eMusic Presents New Recommendation Engine

The music subscription service eMusic has redesigned their website and introduced a new recommendation engine to help the 400,000 subscribers find music. The "Music you’ll love" software, created by MediaUnbound, aims to emulate the music geek at the local record store, using algorithms and over 40 music analysts to recommend new music. Similar to the software on Pandora and Last.fm, eMusic’s new service will track a customer’s mouse clicks, downloads, and previews to form a taste blueprint. The company hopes that the ambitious software will make it easier for members to discover new music and discourage others from cancelling the subscription. eMusic’s users have downloaded over 250 million songs since 2003.
