Tom Waits Offers Preview Of His Record With The Preservation Hall Jazz Band

We’ve already told you how Tom Waits plans to single-handedly revive the archaic 78rpm format—and he’s even offering fans a chance to own a rare custom turntable to play his forthcoming release with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band on. The record is titled “Tootie Ma Is A Big Fine Thing” and is due for release on Nov. 19. Anyone who doesn’t own a 78 rpm turntable, or can’t afford Waits’ offer, can preview the lead track in the clip above, which sounds pretty much as you’d expect it to, with his gravel-like vocal laid comfortably over a ragtime groove and blasts of horn.
