Swans Touring, Recording New Album

Seminal post-punk outfit Swans are back at it again. Last year, frontman Michael Gira reassembled the band for some gigs and, oh, the very good My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky. It was their first album since 1996’s Soundtracks for the Blind and apparently not just a one-off reunion record.

Gira and company are currently recording a follow-up to My Father Will…, which is set to feature tracks named “The Seer,” “Mother of the World,” and “A Piece of the Sky.” They’re also hitting the road in the coming months and putting together a live album from their more recent concerts. According to Pitchfork, profits raised from the live album, which drops in October, will help cover costs associated with recording the new album.

Both the new album and the live album will be released on Gira’s Young God Records. You can view the tour dates below.
