Review

Dream pop act Young Galaxy has undergone a number of changes in its six years of existence. Over the years Steven Ramsay, Catherine McCandless and company have gained and lost personnel, jumped ship from venerable Canadian indie Arts & Crafts, and shuffled through a gaggle of producers. This year it's their sound that has changed. They recently enlisted the help of Dan Lissvik of the Swedish electronic duo Studio to record their third full length, Shapeshifting, which abandons their trademark indie rock sound for sleek, slightly gothic synth pop. Shapeshifting's glacial synth textures and woozy beats cross Deep Cuts-era Knife with reggae and post punk.
