Xavier Rudd is a musical contradiction. A fixture of the jam band circuit, Rudd has toured a lot with Dave Matthews and Ben Harper. Yet Rudd's music explores darker, throbbing, more trance-like territory than your typical frat rock. To further bring out the darker shades on Dark Shades of Blue, Rudd brought in mixer Joe Barresi, known for his work with Tool. An Aussie, Rudd likes to employ the drone of his home country's didgeridoo, as well as the slide guitar sound most associated with Deep South American blues. Think "world music" always means light pop? Think again.

Splendid. This album is just so great. I discovered it for the first time yesterday, and since then I cannot stop listening to it, again and again...each track is so great, especially "shiver", this one really makes me dream of a better world... one of the world's best songs, no doubt about it.

my only fear is that the man might burn out and forget about his personal life, but if you listen to home, i think he will not.
Excellent album!!!!

This album is a rollercoaster of emotions, I was always a heavy metal/ hard rock kind of guy but, this album has stained my heart and locked itself in my musical hall of fame for the rest of my days.
