Wolf People, the first London-based band signed to the Jagjaguwar label, unleash their own particular brand of classic rock on their debut, Tidings. The songs have one foot firmly in the past, with hissing guitars and harmonica filling up songs loosely based on old blues structures and folk ballads. But there's plenty of the present day on Tidings too, as those same songs are cut up with field recordings, the hiss of winding tape, and squeals of feedback. So while these guys are hardly the first "Wolf"-based band to come around, they're certainly trying to carve out their own sonic niche on their debut.

Yesterday, Wolf People made a new block of sensation in my ears. It crossed my flesh with past events, all hidden in sepia.
