If the young lions get Santogold, then the '90s indie illuminati can embrace Tricky's eighth album. Produced in collaboration with Switch, who also worked with Santogold, Knowle West Boy showcases many of Tricky's childhood influences (post-punk, power pop, second wave ska, early hip-hop, dub). Though this sounds like a rehash of every other Tricky album, the key difference here is that the album makes explicit what has surfaced mostly in a synthesized and implicit manner.
