After saying farewell to Interscope in October 2007, Austin prog/punk rockers ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead entered the studio to record their sixth album. The result, 2009's The Century of Self, was a mostly heralded affair and received higher marks than the bands previous two efforts. The quintet also developed its own imprint, Richter Scale Records, as a means of releasing its albums following the Interscope split. Tao of the Dead, the band's seventh record, is Trail of Dead's second independent effort and finds them teaming with indie super producer Chris Coady, whose resume includes Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Beach House.
