Lehrer is a musical satirist who was popular with both the Dr. Demento and NPR crowds a few generations ago, with his songs “Masochism Tango” and “The Elements” being among his most popular. This release should help bring his brand of “Tom-foolery” (as he calls it) to new, younger listeners. It will be a two-CD and one-DVD package that will span the HarvardCollege graduate’s 40-year career (Lehrer is now in his 80s). It will include selections from his popular live albums for Reprise Records, early-‘70s material recorded for the old TV show “The Electric Company,” a rare 1960s single and some radio performances. The DVD will feature unreleased performances, TV spots, and a complete 1967 concert performed in Oslo.
