Los Angeles-based folk-rock band the Watson Twins isn't one of those groups that is being cheeky with its name. The duo comprises Chandra and Leigh Watson, who are actual identical twins. You might know them best from backing up Jenny Lewis a couple of years back on Rabbit Fur Coat and their debut, 2006's self-released Southern Manners. The retro-folk sound of the Watson Twins should fit right in on Vanguard, a label steeped in traditional music. Fire Songs was produced by Russ Pollard and J. Soda, long-time L.A. music scenesters (Pollard has drummed for Earlimart and the Folk Implosion) who play together in the band Everest.
