I must put my foot down and instruct all Prefix readers to ignore every review previously published about In Cahoots with the Vowels. Not only do The Vowels not sound like XTC or Devo (though their vocalist/guitarist, Damion Jurrens, has a nerdy croon a la Mark Mothersbaugh), but the band is also mistakenly categorized as garage rock. It's not. It is Presidents of the United States of America-esque cheese rock. Not that it's a bad album -- in fact, were there more lines like those found in "Hey! Neighbor" ("Hey neighbor/ How you doing?/ Are you sharpening knives/ just for my back?"), I'd almost call this catchy. Shame.
