The Shaky Hands have long been a local favorite in Portland, representing the escapist, nature-oriented side of Pacific Northwest alternative rock that’s too often ignored nationwide. The band’s first two albums sounded like they had never left the sandal-clad peace and love days of the hippie era. With Let It Die, the band’s third album, the band has made a traditional hippie turn eastwards.
Vocalist/guitarist Nicholas Dellfs claims to have taken a life-reaffirming journey to India (is there any other?), and with a new drummer in Jake Morris (formerly of the Joggers), Let It Die aims to be more of a breakthrough to the national music scene. Recent opening stints with the Meat Puppets and the Thermals couldn’t have hurt.
