Review

When Chicago-based indie pop collective Scotland Yard Gospel Choir released their first album in 2004, I Bet You Say That To All The Boys, the comparisons to Belle and Sebastian were strong and apparent, from the chamber pop strokes of the music down to the ironic song titles. Since then, the group has found new inspiration in other forms of somber U.K. rock, taking the time to crank up the guitars on 2007's self-titled album and on "Tear Down The Opera House" from their latest. The delicate orch-pop touches are still there, but the sound is no longer limited to Scotland. ...And The Horse You Rode In On marks their third full-length album and second for Bloodshot Records.
