The Pipettes' successful 2006 debut, We Are the Pipettes, won over as many critics with its retro appeal as it irked. Despite being something of a mini-phenomenon upon their debut, the Pipettes have been quiet in recent years, after some reshuffling following signing a major-label deal. In fact, none of the Pipette's original members remain, as RiotBecky and Rosey have left the band; only Gwenno Saunders remains from the band that was in place with the 2006 debut LP. New to the band for Earth vs. the Pipettes is Gwenno's younger sister Ani and Beth Mburu-Bowie, who herself was a mid-tour replacement. Earth vs. the Pipettes comes with the singles "Our Love Was Saved By Spacemen" and "Stop The Music," which are already making the rounds of Internet video and show the band approaching more of a disco direction.

I was under the impression that Beth recorded this album. in fact i'm pretty sure that martin rushents tweets and the pipettes tweets confirmed this. She even wrote a blog about almost burning down Martin's house!? I think she even wrote some of it. Ethan, why didn't you research this.

I was really looking forward to seeing what she did with those songs. This girl really raised their game. She could actually sing the songs and make them sound like music. I hope she does something soon. Checked out her myspace a while back but there was nothing on it - maybe soon. http://www.myspace.com/howaboutbeth
