If You Should Ever Fall on Hard Times is an appropriate title for the first new Iguanas album since 2003's Plastic Silver 9 Volt Heart. The New Orleans-based band has definitely had a rough go of it since Hurricane Katrina hammered the Crescent City. The group had to relocate to Austin, which, honestly, isn't the worst place for a bunch of musicians to have to live. It was there that the band wrote most of If. But the Iguanas returned to the Big Easy to record the album. The band adds to the eclectic mix that already makes up New Orleans swamp rock boogie a strong Tex-Mex element, as witnessed on songs like "Malas Vibras," "El Huracan y Pin Pon," and "Celos con Mezcal."
