Review

The Flaming Lips released their take on Pink Floyd's landmark Dark Side of the Moon digitally in late 2009 in anticipation of their performance of it on New Year's Eve of that year. They later announced additional dates as well as a physical release. The album's proper title is The Flaming Lips and Stardeath and White Dwarfs with Henry Rollins and Peaches Doing The Dark Side of the Moon. As that rather unwieldy title relates, the Lips recruited Wayne Coyne's nephew Dennis Coyne and his band Stardeath and White Dwarfs to help out on several tracks. Henry Rollins performs the interview segments from the original record, and Peaches contributes the vocals on "The Great Gig in the Sky" that were originally performed by Clare Torry. This album acts as the 13th overall full-length release from the Flaming Lips.
