Review ·

The Fictions hail from Orange County, California and by no means shirk our hopes of the high-end mediocrity that has come to be the staple of the region. Wearing their influences on their sleeves, the band plays quirky indie-pop that actually runs through a decent gamut of styles while never straying too far from traditional hooks, melodies and arrangements. Sometimes Beach Boys, sometimes the Beatles, the Fictions do a good job of writing intelligent music but leave out some of what makes that music important. In the end, we're left with just another record to put on as filler during those times in life when things are unimportant.
