On their first album in three years, The Concretes are all about reconfiguration. WYWH marks the first appearance on an America-released album of Lisa Milberg as lead singer, having taken the position from Victoria Bergsman in 2007 when she left to focus on her Taken By Trees project. In addition to having a new voice up front, WYWH finds the band moving away from their standard indie pop sound into more disco-influenced sounds. According to the band, this means heavier backbeats, louder bass, and a rapidly growing garden of keyboards making their presence known. The album is also their debut release for the Brooklyn-based label Friendly Fire.
