Long gone are the days in which the type of dance music made by the Chemical Brothers was in the vanguard, and the duo's most recent albums haven't exactly been blockbusters. Still, there's no denying the infectiousness of early Chemical Brothers singles such as "Block Rockin' Beats," "Setting Sun," and "Hey Boy Hey Girl." Those and other Chemical Brothers hits compose the first disc of Brotherhood, augmented by new tune "Keep My Composure," which features guest rhymes from Spank Rock. Disc two collects the "Electronic Battle Weapons" tracks, venues that Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands have used over the years to explore their more experimental leanings.

It's such a shame that people now look to wussy, 'light' electronic music like Hot Chip, Presets, PNAU, Justice that's not anything really new- of course they're all rooted in the 80's synth/pop stuff. Whereas chemical brothers, the prodigy, underworld etc. did something different and made music that didn't draw heavily upon other decades' distinct sound.
Long live 90's electronica!
