Producer Kevin Martin tellingly cites several writers (J.G. Ballard, Philip K. Dick) and directors (David Lynch, "Beat" Takeshi) as influences on his MySpace page before even mentioning another musician. Since the late '80s he has produced frenetic music that refuses to acknowledge genre borders. His earliest project with Napalm Death/Godflesh alumnus Justin Broadrick, God, was a freewheeling mash of chaotic sound and cinematic vision. Time has tempered the beast, relatively, as beats and bass have become fine-tuned. His project as The Bug, which debuted in 1997 with a re-visioned soundtrack to Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation called Tapping the Conversation, can be described as a culmination of these experiences. London Zoo is Martin's third record under this moniker.
