Four years ago, The Bravery were the upstart new stars of Island Records, challenging The Killers in a feud better suited for Ja Rule and 50 Cent. While that made the Bravery one of the more commercially successful synth revival bands of the past decade, the lack of industry-wide commercial success, combined with lukewarm reviews, has meant that the Bravery has still been overshadowed by the band's chart-topping rivals. Stir the Blood, the band's third album, was delayed despite an eight month recording session and tour opening for Green Day.

It's so sad to see how The Bravery is so underrated. Listening to three songs from Stir The Blood, I believe this new album will be great. |

Some of the Bravery's music has been unbelievable - most of the first album, about half of the second, and the new ones so far to get aired off the third album have got oodles of the 'repeat play' factor. They got wrongly categorised as a synth/80s-revival band - that was, like, the biggest putdown ever for a proper class act with more to offer to the thinking music fan than the Killers, eg - and that probably explains why they haven't been quite as successful 'industry-wide' as their big label might have liked. That, and the fact that they aren't the types to play up to commercial requirements; being more cool/intelligent than that, naturally they're not so bothered. Anyone who has ever liked bands like the Psychedelic Furs, snyth-era Bowie, and the pure strut of the best cool rock bands, will dig the Bravery...it's little less than criminal that they aren't already huge in the UK where they deserve to have a huge following, let's hope they don't go down as an act who never got quite what they deserved. Hey label if you're listening, get them over in the UK touring more for chrissakes!
