Neatly-groomed, melodically sensible indie-pop six-piece Annuals is primed to release Such Fun, the second release from the North Carolina outfit. For their follow-up to their 2006 debut Be He Me, the band got some help from Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Modest Mouse), who also lent a hand on Annuals' Wet Zoo EP. On this outing, it would be comfortable to assume that the band gave their work a little bit more than a spit-polish to assure that listeners will feel every single heartfelt, earnest note. For the album cover, the band chose a Bob Ross painting because of the "sad loneliness and isolation" in them. Infer from that what you will.
