It’s easy to start out listening to your latest hip-hop find and enjoy above-average lyrics and above-average beats. These guys are from western Massachusetts, which means Boston isn’t even the center of hip-hop in the state (what’s with those people? Get with the times, right?). Coming off a little bit like Little Brother without the social commentary or the 9th Wonder beats, this is average hip-hop from not-your-average place. Put Static in once and you get a sense they are making good music, but play it too often and you start to notice that you still aren’t nodding your head and there’s very little that’s making you think. I want to like Maspyke, and I don’t have any reason to insult three reasonably talented individuals. So I’ll just leave it at that.
