While this seminal grunge act did reunite to play some live shows, particularly the big festivals, that does not mean this record represents Soundgarden's return to the studio. Rather, Telephantasm is a career-spanning compilation of tracks, from the well-known hits to the deep album cuts. There are, however, some treats for real die hard fans, most notably previously unreleased "Black Rain," a track hailing from the band's Badmotorfinger recording sessions. Those fans also might be interested in some live and single versions of certain cuts, such as the BBC session take of "Flower," on the two-disc, limited edition copy of Telephantasm. Also included in that package is a DVD filled with the band's music videos, including the famous visuals for "Black Hole Sun" and some that were never released.
