This release is the first in a series of Defend Music’s mix CDs celebrating New York City’s famed FIXED parties – an event launched in 2004 at the Tribeca Grand Hotel which features a mix of techno disc jockeys and on-the-rise indie acts. This CD was crafted to represent a FIXED residency night by the U.K. production team/techno duo Simian Mobile Disco, which is made up of James Ford and Jas Shaw. The release includes the duo’s single, “Nerve Salad” as well as a bunch of tracks that take in influences ranging from jazz (like Brain Machine’s “Eternal Night” and Etienne Jaumet’s “For Falling Asleep”) and electro, such as their take on Chateau Flight’s “Baroque.”
