Shlohmo, real name Henry Laufer, saw his music career reaching a new high point in 2009 following the release of the Shlomoshun and Shlo-Fi EPs. The former soon caught the attention of Friends of Friends. The imprint put out both deluxe and redux versions in the spring and fall of 2010, respectively, along with Laufer's Camping EP in the summer. The minimalist, beat-centric producer followed those up with early 2011's Places EP, which paved the way for his proper full-length debut. Laufer said the album, Bad Vibes, is inspired by a "desire to write songs and create a release of full-range instrumentation and vocals all my own." In other words, expect even more progression from the already-rich, more-developed tracks heard on Places.
