Much like his peers in the instrumental hip-hop scene, Shigeto made his first mark in the game with a pair of instrumental EPs. His lush, abstract productions soon caught the eye of experimental instrumental label Ghostly International, who signed the Brooklyn-by-way-of-Detroit-based artist. He then prepped his proper full-length debut, 2010's Full Circle, which completes the story created with his Semi-Circle EP. The album features Shigeto combining boom-bap-oriented hip-hop with woozy synthesizers ambient field recordings, and samples, one of which features an MC (SelfSays) from his hometown.
