In 1979 Serge Gainsbourg headed to Jamaica in search of the rocksteady sound. For Aux Armes et Caetera he enlisted legendary Kingston producers Sly and Robbie and backup vocalists the I-Threes, a trio of three women who also sang with Bob Marley. The sound is dub reggae, with Serge chanting in his familiar sex-drenched drawl. And, somehow, it works. This reissue is an amusing look into a late-1970s Franco-Jamaican collaboration.
