Coming straight out of Guelph, Royal City carved out quite a following in Canada with their idiosyncratic take on pop music and then played their first American show in Sufjan Stevens’ living room. Band frontman Aaron Riches started out as a hardcore wunderkind, took some time off to expand his horizons at college, and then returned to his hometown and put together a band. Royal City is a collection of b-sides and rarities that shows this progression and serves as a fond reminder of the band.
