This album from British MC Roots Manuva is less a proper “new” record but rather a collection of re-worked tracks from his 2008 effort, Slime & Reason. But that record's release, his label, Big Dada, came in contact with producer Wrong Tom, who was interested in remixing lead single “Buff Nuff.” The results were so successful he even created a full bonus EP of remixes that were shipped along with special copies of the album. From there, though, Big Dada commissioned Wrong Tom to create a full-length of these remixes that has been called Duppy Writer. The tracks are typically drenched in dub rhythms and Caribbean vibes, which provide essential elements to Manuva's already reggae-inspired tunes.
