Here's yet another reissue from the '90s, this one dating from a bit later in the decade. Rocky Votolato was the 1999 self-titled debut album from the singer-songwriter from the Pacific Northwest. It found Votolato transitioning from his punk background into a gentler troubadour sound, not unlike the transformation Elliott Smith had recently undergone. The album was originally released on the little label Status Recordings, and has been out of print for some time. Votolato is now a mainstay in the indie-folk scene, regularly touring with contemporaries like Damien Jurado.
