Robert Pollard is an android. That's the only possible explanation for the dizzying schedule of musical activity he maintains on a regular basis. No mere human could continue to amass such a huge discography without suffering from physical and emotional fatigue. Between solo albums, his band Boston Spaceships, and God knows how many other side projects at any given time, Pollard regularly releases several projects a year, and the last one must have been out for a good five minutes before Space City Kicks was announced. The album finds the GBV mastermind collaborating once again with his longtime cohort, producer/multi-instrumentalist Todd Tobias, turning out a hefty batch of concise-but-quirky tracks that will probably be followed up the next week by a box set of fresh material.
