No one knew what to expect following RJD2's 2007 curveball known as The Third Hand. His previous electronica/hip-hop-heavy sound took a backseat for rock-oriented grooves that features (shocker) vocals from the producer. His 2010 excursion, The Colossus, was a slight return-to-form, with more guests offering vocals than heard previously and seven instrumental tracks. He wasn't done with the album, though. In the past, RJ was content to just re-release his albums sans-vocals so listeners could enjoy his beats. But for his second 2010 effort, Inversions of the Colossus, he tossed away those instrumentals for brand new tracks and removed the vocals from the other cuts for something almost entirely different.
