Riceboy Sleeps is the result of three years of collaboration between Sigur Ros vocalist Jonsi Birgisson and his partner, Alex Somers. The pair has been creating music to accompany their visual art since 2006, but this is the first instance that it has seen widespread release. The record was recorded on acoustic instruments in Iceland and then mixed on a solar-powered laptop in Hawaii. Fans of either Sigur Ros's slower, more atmospheric work or Brian Eno's ambient experiments will find much to interest them on this album, as it mixes the warm, organic sound of the former with the careful, restrained crescendos of the latter.
