The Phoenix-reared duo Reubens Accomplice sounds a lot like fellow Arizonians Jimmy Eat World. No wonder: JEW frontman Jim Adkins handpicked and produced the duo's second album, The Bull, the Balloon and the Family, for his own Western Tread Recordings label. Still, the emo-core companion troop of Jeff Bufano and Chris Corak has a bit more going for it than its superstar patronage. Wound nicely around lilting guitar chords and radio-ready melodies, The Bull is a modest yet promising album of slight, eager-to-please pop tunes.
