Hip-hop supergroups have a tendency to never pan out (the Four Horsemen). And when they do, their output is less than enthralling (the Firm). One exception to the rule was Slaughterhouse, a foursome that dropped a solid, though unbalanced, record in 2009. Looking to become another exception is Random Axe, which brings together MCs Sean Price and Guilty Simpson and MC/producer Black Milk. These like-minded acts first appeared together on “Run,” one of the best tracks off Simpson’s debut Ode to the Ghetto. And if that was any indication, their collaborative album will be filled with gun-toting battle raps, head-nodding futuristic beats, and plenty of punchlines.
