Review

While Rancid never reached the level of ultra-stardom that early ‘90s California peers like the Offspring or Green Day ended up achieving, the band has nonetheless come to define the revival of interest in flat-out, mainstream pop-punk revival that emerged in the wake of grunge. Rancid was never a particular favorite of the critics; the band seemed to exist more for those fans who wanted to experience the excitement of first-wave punk but were too young to live it otherwise. Let the Dominoes Fall is the band’s first album since 2003’s Indestructable, and in the meantime the band has been on an “extended hiatus” that lasted all of two years, released a handful of comps and solo projects. Let the Dominoes Fall also features a new drummer in Branden Steineckert.

You mention "never a favourite particular favourite of the critics". Sorry to sound negative but this 'review' itself wouldn't be a favourite with the critics.

Details are very minimal for a review and you offer very little insight into the new album which actually makes me wonder whether you've even listened to it.

I don't mean to offend but this article is so poorly written I just had to comment. I'm not even in big fan of the band.

    Yeah, what ABOUT the album?

I believe an Abstract is intended to give general information about the album. It's not a Review. If you look around the site a bit, albums that are reviewed have their own separate Review heading with a detailed analysis following.
