Rain Machine is the solo project of TV on the Radio guitarist/impressive beard grower Kyp Malone, who was a solo performer prior to joining up with Tunde Adebimpe and Dave Sitek to record Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes in 2003. TV on the Radio have obviously launched to semi-fame since then, releasing two more excellent studio albums and cutting a wide swath across the world on various tours. Malone still had time to cut Rain Machine in there somewhere (as well as recording an album with Iran, and producing an album for Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson), and the album showcases the more percussive and rhythmic side of Malone that always shines through on his contributions to TV on the Radio records. Rain Machine was produced by Lucinda Williams producer Ian Brennan.
