Throughout the course of his nearly 20-year recording career, R&B’s most lovable deviant, R. Kelly, has swung from the bedroom to the pulpit with a puzzlingly straight face, delivering lascivious hits like “Sex in the Kitchen” and pious paeans like “U Saved Me” with the same overblown, theatrical aplomb. Kells has received the greatest-hits treatment in the past; he claimed to have put the R. in R&B on his expansive 2003 hits collection. Epic is another such collection, only this time the focus is on “aspirational songs and R. Kelly classics." Epic sits older inspirational ballads like “World’s Greatest” and “I Believe I Can Fly” alongside “Victory," the official 2010 FIFA World Cup anthem, and four newly recorded titles.
