Battle for the Sun is Placebo's first self-released album after their contract with Virgin, and their first with drummer Steve Forrest. Frontman Brian Molko calls the album "a record about choosing life, about choosing to live, about stepping out of the darkness and into the light." It was recorded in Toronto with Grammy Award winning producer Dave Bottrill (Tool).

The new song disappointed me, it's so not placebo, I only like a little bit the beginning and the chorus, but the rest is so repetitive, it's disappointing. And I'm a fan of placebo, and I like ALL the previous songs, I have bought ALL the cds, SINGLES!, etc... I'm so fcking disappointed. ): |

Placebo haven't been good for years. 'Meds' is poor compared to 'Placebo' and 'WYIN'. 'BMM' is ok, but 'SWG' isn't very good either. Long past it now... |

I'm so happy to see their return :) I've loved every album they have produced. They are by far my favourite band of all time. For some reason the songs they produce always seem to fit in with exactly what I'm going through in my life at the time and I'm happy Battle for the sun is slightly more positive and but they still haven't lost their edge. |

I have enjoyed every album they have put out and I believe they have improved with every album. The new song is great and I think it is so creative with the way it is put together. Also it is by far the best concert I have ever been to. I didnt know what to expect when I went but was blown away by their live sound. Cant wait for them to come out again. |

I agree the new song 'Battle for the sun' is not that great at first but its defo a grower! 'For what its worth' is for what its worth - a great single! loved Placebo for years and cant wait to see them next week at the O2 Sheperds bush london! Lets hope the album preview is well received, and the band continue keeping their fans wanting more! |

The new stuff sounded great at the London gig last week. Seems like a combination of all their previous albums, with the added bonus of the raw emotion of WYIN. |

I'm a huge fan of placebo actually I have just started to like their music not long ago but I began to like the band more and more since got the album Med, it's just my type of music after that i stated to listen to other albums and i also enjoy them all. I think their best albums I have are " sleeping with ghost and Med" the album and the songs possess the sound even more energetic and powerful than previous albums, fantastic and the new album "battle for the sun" is as fantastic as those. I think their music does great with melancholy sound but if they add a little strong aggressive or powerfull sound and mix them, I think that will make the Placebo even greater, it's just perfect for them. A great concert I've ever been to, in Siem Riap, I love them! I hope they visit Cambodia again, I can't wait for their next concert in Cambodia. and I hope the band keep producing great music |

I think Battle for the sun is as the most of placebo's songs. The sound and brian's voice make you feel something like happiness!!!Ok,this song is sure not their best but the album contains many songs.Do you remember which was the the first single of "Meds"?It was the song "Because i want you" and i have to say i was a little disappointed from this song but when the album was released i heard the other songs and i changed my mind.Placebo for life! |

I just heard the whole streamed album from their website and I can't get Ashtray Heart (and the spanish chorus 'corazon de cenicero') out of my head! it's freaking great! the rest of the album is a bit lame, I miss Brian's clever and articulate lyrics from the previous albums (except the dissapointing Meds) |

I have to say, i downloaded a torrent for the album but will definitely buy the album! It took a couple of listens to realise the change is good! Even though theyre a little more uplifting in their choice of sounds, they are THE only ones who can live upto their best while doing that. Mainly due to Brians well engineered lyrical talents or just because he has such a unique voice. Unfortunately there are a couple of "too odd" tracks like Kings of Medicine.. very trippy and Speak In Tongues is quite unlikable except maybe the last 1-2 minutes where the big anthem part comes in. But to boast a number of tracks, Devil In Disguise familiarises itself with the narcissistic dark feel that is so present in songs from BlackMarket Music. My favourites are Julien, The Never Ending Why and Come Undone. Big songs and unbelievably effective with the new Album due out soon Im definitely looking forward to watching them in concert singing such a cool mixture of songs. |

Hi people, I just read some of your comments about Placebo's new album and I just want to say that it's a great album and nobody should be disappointed. When I first listened to the song "Battle For The Sun" I thought, ok, it's good, but not great. Then came "For What It's Worth" and I liked that better. |

My fav is The Never Ending Why |

Based on all Placebos previous work, this will be an amazing cd. Rarely these days do bands live upto there past, but Placebo havnt yet failed. There tour for Meds was simple one of the top concerts i have ever seen- and untill i went there i wasnt looking forward to it- 30 seconds into the first song i was in shock of how amazing the band are live.
