Titled, appropriately enough, Ninth, Peter Murphy’s 2011 release (the ninth of his solo career) on Nettwerk comes on the heels of a half decade of reintroducing himself to a new generation of mopey, pasty-skinned, malcontents. From reuniting Bauhaus for an acclaimed performance at Coachella and collaborating with Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails to appearing in Eclipse (the third installment of the Twilight film series), Murphy is claiming for himself the honor of High Goth Priest by hook or crook. Whether we’ll see a Jacob-vs.-Edward battle of loyalties amongst the kids when the next Love and Rockets record is released remains to be seen, but Murphy seems more than content for now.
