Singer-songwriter Pete Yorn follows up his duet album with Scarlett Johanssson with this self-titled sixth studio release. Pixies frontman Frank Black produced the effort, which he said would be stripped down compared to Yorn’s previous CDs. According to a feature in Spin, Black pushed Yorn into writing songs that were more “fearless and raw” -- Yorn had said that he wanted to better define himself as an artist this time around. As such, the album’s songs deal with “eternal themes” such as “childhood joys, and growing up and embracing the future.”
