As Patrick Wolf's hardcore fans might already know, his fourth and fifth albums, 2009's The Bachelor and 2011's Lupercalia, were originally part of a double album called Battle. But the genre-jumping singer-songwriter eventually split them up, with the former providing a look into his loneliness and depression that leads to the latter's building feelings of finding true love. As he mentioned in late 2010 on his Twitter account, he went with the name Lupercalia because, like the Roman and pre-Roman festival, the album is a celebration of love and purity.
