"Post-rock" is often a vague, worthless misnomer, but Tim Furnish & Co. make it seem like a perfectly logical designation on Googler. The seven-piece band builds layer upon layer of synths, guitars and electronics, concocting a dense mixture that transcends any genre with unbelievable grace. The crew isn't afraid to experiment, as tunes like the menacing "Over the Under" sacrifice structure for mood. "Jololinine" and "Distractor" provide ambling rock rhythms, but the album shifts gears as "Regulkfro Reel" somehow manages to subtly travel from the Ventures to Future Sound of London in seven minutes. That achievement in itself deserves some praise.
