With Made in Miami, Oscar G stakes a claim to the Miami house sound and attempts to capture it in a two-disc mix set on Peter Rauhofer's Star 69 label. As half of the remix/production duos Murk and Funky Green Dogs, the man has undoubtedly influenced the development of the drum-heavy, gritty sound that is being called "Miami." But his strengths reside in production, not behind the turntables. His mixes are so dull that he might as well not have gone to the trouble of matching the beats. He doesn't tease the songs or really layer the sound. In the end, Oscar G put together a mediocre two-hour mix that has a couple decent tracks but doesn't go anywhere.
