The debut album from Nurses is the product of a longtime friendship and five years of ascetic devotion to music, but sounds happier than that. They have a song called "Technicolor," which hints at the psychedelic and bubblegum influences behind the Portland, Ore. band. While their influences and lyrics point to the distant reaches of space, Apple's Acre was recorded in the attic of a Victorian house. And that's where Nurses resides, one foot in the Victorian era and the other on the rings of Saturn.
