Nelly Furtado

Mi Plan

Release Date: September 29, 2009
Label: Universal Music Latino

Abstract

Nelly Furtado has long defied the rules. Her debut album, Whoa, Nelly! was a wordy, hip hop-influenced pop album released at a time when Britney, Christina and Jessica stilled ruled the airwaves. The following album, Folklore, experimented with world music sounds. Then in 2006, she went in a completely opposite direction and reinvented herself as a fierce club diva on Loose. Now, coming off of the biggest hit of her career, Furtado has decided to release an album sung entirely in Spanish. Logic would probably dictate that the smart thing to do would be to go back in the studio with Timbaland or any other hot producer of the moment in search of another #1 single, but judging from her track record, it only makes sense that she's disregarding expecations. Furtado wrote the record in part with fellow Canadian Alex Cuba and Mi Plan features guest spots from Juanes and Josh Groban.
