Nas
Nas
Label: Def Jam
Nas' ninth arrives unsurprisingly with its share of hoopla. Originally threatening to title the album Nigger, the emcee continues to goad peers, fans and even himself in a similar manner as 2006' Hip Hop Is Dead. However, perhaps growing comfortable with his entrenched celebrity, the perennial Top 5 Dead or Alive finalist seems to have learned how to translate controversy into creative agency. Turning to a new generation of producers (notably stic.man of dead prez, mixtape impresario Green Lantern and left-wing Jay Electronica), in addition to the commercially dependable (Polow da Don, Cool & Dre, DJ Toomp), Nas confidently strolls to the stage shining with that uzi-lining flow that you know so well.

I bought it. Breathe and Make The World Go Round take away from the concept too much and their are too many great songs that weren't on the album that were on The N-word Tape. Best Song: Sly Fox |
