Last year saw two excellent Mountain's related LP's: the half-new-half-compilation Mountains, Mountains, Mountains (Catsup Plate), and the debut solo offering from one half of the Mountains duo, Koen Holtkamp's Field Rituals (Type). Choral, their third full length of original material, is Mountain's best work to date, expanding upon the seamless blending of acoustic and electronic elements that have typified their output. Long playing tracks that wind and unwind in a blend of the natural and the synthesized, Choral evolves like a heart to heart conversation with oneself.
