Review

Mountains embraced several new ideas throughout the recording process of their fourth album, Air Museum, which is their second on Thrill Jockey. Unlike its predecessors, the album was recorded in a studio, which allowed them to spend a lot of time on post-production and editing. Additionally, the duo of Brendon Anderegg and Koen Holtkamp used modular synthesizers and other analog techniques to process their instruments. The result is an album that "manifests itself sonically as their most electric record yet," according to Thrill Jockey. Musically, Air Museum features a less direct approach to songwriting, which results in a jazzier, more active style.
